Wawi Navarroza reports on the WOMAD 2005 (World of Music Arts & Dance) festival held last August 26-28 at Fort Canning Park, Singapore.

EXCERPT

"All in all, the high-voltage performances recall to mind what Jim Morrison has described as the electric marriage of music and audience. I have witnessed the mystery and have come to marvel at how a throng of quivering flesh responds to an arranged arithmetic of sound. It's very much a soul-thing. The artists are healers who can wash our tired old spirits overlaid with mental garbage, reality TV, and dirty politics. The audience responded with feelings, and not with a baggage of boxed notions. The fun factor was even heightened by the dynamic event experience itself which opened pages for unforgettable stories and of friendship. ..."
